Three Ways to Boost Your Confidence.
People tend to equate confidence with self-esteem. While self-esteem does contribute to a person's confidence level
it isn't the only factor. Someone with low self-esteem can be perceived as confident. You just have to catch them
doing something they feel confident about. In fact, confidence is as much a reflection of how others perceive you
as it is about how you perceive yourself. Here are three things you can do to boost your confidence:
DRESS UP.
The way you dress not only affects how others see you but also how you see yourself. Dressing up is an easy way to boost
your confidence. This doesn't necessarily mean going out and buying new clothes. Just be more aware of what you're wearing
and how it reflects who you are. If you're going on a date you want to look nice. And it's amazing how something as simple
as a hair cut can make you feel and look better.
PRAISE YOURSELF.
Think about four or five things you like about yourself. Include at least two physical traits. Write them down and read them
aloud. We spend so much time worrying about the things we don't like about ourselves that we often forget about our good traits.
It's healthy to keep the good traits fresh in your mind. Make this list at least once a month. It's a great way to boost your
confidence. Each month, the list may be different or it may be the same. The point being that you made the list according to
the things you like about yourself on that given day. Eventually you'll start to believe what's great about yourself and you'll
beam with confidence.
WORK OUT.
We all have a few extra pounds we'd like to lose or a part of our body we'd like to be firmer. A lot of people use these little
imperfections as excuses to be unhappy. Exercise can help you feel better about yourself. And you don't need to join a gym.
There are many things you can do outside of a gym to get in shape – walking, jogging, push-ups, sit-ups, climbing stairs. You
can even do something a simple as lifting a bag of flour or sugar 10 or 15 times. Set aside time each day to exercise. As your
stamina increases, you can increase your workout time or add exercises. Workout at your own pace and you'll see the changes in
your body and confidence.
Try working on these three confidence builders and you'll see improvement in your attitude in no time. Don't get discouraged if
you don't feel different in the first few of weeks. Plant little seeds of change. Over time, you'll find these tasks get easier.
You'll notice the things you like about yourself every day. And eventually, the way you perceive yourself will match up with how
others see you.
